Roots to Wings is an upmarket boutique nursery school offering a high standard of daycare to children from 3 months to Grade R. Inspired by the play-based learning approach, our curriculum is child-centred, and our environments are well thought out and beautiful. Live-view webcams let you be part of your child's day, wherever you are.

Our sensory room is filled with swings, balls, fairy lights and sensory boards. A mud kitchen, water play wall, sandpit, jungle gym, bike track and fantasy dress-up cottage let children explore and choose freely every day.

What is STEAM?
Play-based learning uses different themed play settings that encourage children to explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in imaginative ways. STEAM — Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math — makes creators, thinkers, problem-solvers and inventors. Exposing children to STEAM early sets the foundation for higher learning tomorrow.

Exploring water and sand in the mud kitchen, bug hunts with magnifying glasses, and mixing colours on the water wall.
Technology
Playing with cars and figuring out how wheels turn, and exploring cause and effect on our light-box.
Engineering
In the block area, children plan, design and build structures every single day.
Process Art
Child-directed art where every result is unique — the focus is on creating, not the outcome.
Math
Matching shapes, counting units, and measuring quantity and volume during messy play.
From tiny Ducklings to our Owls in Grade R
Small classes and high staff ratios mean every child is truly known. Our Ducklings and Bumblebees class has a maximum of 4 babies and 6 toddlers; there are approximately 15 children in each of the other classes.

Children need to "do" and "experience" things in order to learn. Our Owls are taught the CAPS curriculum as devised by the Department of Education, through integrated play-based activities.

- Social-emotional skills for managing emotions and building self-esteem.

Safe, reliable transport
RidesRus has operated in the Midrand area for the past ten years, providing our own safe and reliable transport. We use our own transport for day field trips too — to places like Croc City and Mapatiza Mine.
